LTS 2023 Dedicated to our Bade Guruji
This year we are dedicating our semi-annual student recital Laya Taal Saadhna to our Bade Guruji, Taal Yogi Pandit Suresh Talwalkar ji.
Taalyogi Pandit Suresh Talwalkar is one of the greatest Tabla exponents of the present times. He is a recipient of the prestigious Sangeet Natak Academy award and as an accomplished artist and guru has contributed immensely to the tradition of Indian Classical Music.
Bade Guruji added a new dimension to the solo playing of tabla by introducing the novel concept of vocal accompaniment. As a distinguished composer, his genius and creativity has led to numerous critically acclaimed recordings and performances. Two of his greatest works are “Taal Mala” and “Joad Taal”, both of which received acclaim from audiences and critics alike. His compositions have influenced countless musicians from India and across the world.
As a guru, his teaching abilities and expertise are unmatched. Many of the top tabla artists of today are his disciples or heavily influenced by his teaching. This can be seen each year at music festivals such as the Sawai Gandharva, where many of his disciples regularly perform. His genius has allowed him to teach not only Tabla, but also has trained many professional artists on various percussion instruments. Today, many jazz composers from India and abroad seek his guidance in their musical journey.
He is regularly sought after speaker and lecturer at renowned musical institutions, where he shares his passion for music and communicating complex concepts with ease.
